Your story, in the quiet hours
Moonlit Memoir
Gentle weekly questions for writing your life story, a few memories at a time, while the house is asleep.
Many of us mean to write our stories down someday. Memoir rarely arrives all at once. It comes in small pieces: a kitchen, a voice, a winter, a choice. Moonlit Memoir offers one gentle question at a time. You answer in your own words, at your own pace, and over time the answers become something you can keep, or give to the people you love.
You write every word. Nothing you write is used to train AI. Your stories stay yours.

Write your first memoryHow the Moonlit Memoir path works
- One gentle question a week. About a place, a person or a moment. Never a test, never a deadline you can fail.
- Write in the quiet hours. Ten minutes or an hour. Late at night or before dawn. Small pieces count.
- Keep what you write. Your words stay yours. Save or download them anytime.
- Gather it into a keepsake. Your answers become a small collection to keep, share or give.
The Moonlit Memoir path is just beginning, and we're shaping it with our first writers.
Questions to begin with
Pick whichever one tugs at you. You can always write around a memory before writing into it.
- Describe the kitchen of the house you grew up in. What did it smell like on an ordinary evening?
- Who taught you something you still use every day? Tell the moment you learned it.
- What did a typical Saturday look like when you were ten?
- Tell the story behind an object you've kept for years.
- What is a small moment you've never told anyone about?
- Write about the first place that felt like yours.
- What would you want your grandchildren to know about the year you turned twenty?
- What song takes you straight back, and where does it take you?

The Memoir Starter
Where I come from
- Who were the people at your family's table, and where did each of them sit?
- What did your parents or grandparents do for work, and what did that teach you?
- Describe your childhood street as if you were walking down it.
- What was a family saying, joke or rule everyone knew?
The life I built
- Describe a day when you knew your life had changed.
- Who was your closest friend at thirty, and how did you meet?
- Tell the story of a home you made, and the first night you spent in it.
- What was the hardest decision you ever made, and how do you see it now?
What I've learned
- What do you know now that you wish you'd known at twenty-five?
- Which kindness from someone else do you still think about?
- What would you like the people who love you to remember about you?
- Write a short letter to someone who will read it fifty years from now.
The founding memoir circle
We're inviting our first twenty writers into a small, free founding circle. Together we'll complete a short mini-collection: six to eight gentle questions, one a week, with light encouragement along the way and a clear finish line. At the end, you'll have a finished keepsake of your stories, yours to keep or to give.
In return, we'll ask what worked and what didn't. We may also ask whether you'd be willing to share a short excerpt. That is always your choice, never a condition.

Thank you. We'll write to you personally about your place in the circle.
A gentle gift
Thinking of a parent or grandparent whose stories you'd love to keep? These questions make a gentle beginning. Share one over the phone, or sit together and write the answer down in their own words. It's their story; you're simply helping it reach the page.
Questions people ask
Do I need to be a writer?
No. If you can tell a story at the kitchen table, you can write one. Plain words are perfect.
How much time does it take?
As little as ten minutes a week. Some weeks you'll write more, some less. Every answer counts.
Is my writing private?
Yes. You write every word, and nothing you write is used to train AI. Anything you write with Selene on our site stays in your own browser unless you choose to share it. See our privacy policy.
Can I write about painful memories?
Only when, and as much as, you want to. Many people begin with the edges of a memory, a room or a season, before writing into it. Go gently.
Can I do this for someone else?
You can help someone tell their story by asking the questions and writing their answers in their own words. The story stays theirs.
What does it cost?
